Wisdom

So, last week I picked up a new devotion book..."Hearing from God each Morning" by Joyce Myer, and so far, I'm really enjoying it. I meant to post about this this past weekend, but didn't obviously..On Friday, there was a really good one that stuck out to me...the verse was:

"If any of you is deficient in wisdom, let him ask of the giving God {Who gives}to everyone liberally and ungrudgingly , without reproaching or faultfinding, and it will be given to him." (James 1:5)

Basically, the devotion talked about praying for wisdom and what does it mean to be wise. It said that wise people make decisions that they will be happy with later, while unwise people go with their emotions and how they feel now-in the moment-and usually end up unhappy with these decisions later on. Looking back over my life, I can so see the decisions where I prayed for HIS wisdom and didn't act out of what I felt was best-and I really feel that what she wrote was true.

The most recent was with my professional life. There were times things happened over the last 3 years where I just wanted to leave/give up and not pray about it...but when I thought more, and with wise council from those around me, began to pray about it, I made a better decision...especially looking at where I am now...I don't think I would have such a wonderful position/job if I had just left my previous job when I wanted to...just to get away from the drama that was happening at the time-the emotion part/in the moment of the situation. Leaving when I did set me up to be where I am today and I couldn't be more grateful...isn't it great when you look back and can see HIS hand in everything..waiting on his time and not mine...even if it's the hardest thing at that time...and boy was it hard...

I think what I learned through all of that was to 1. pray about everything and 2. seek the council of other family/friends around you that know what is happening. Sometimes, people can see the bigger picture from the outside that you can't see when you are in the middle of it.....I hope next time that I am in a situation (like this or any other) where I am struggling, I can remember this and pray for that wisdom from God and not make an unwise, emotion based decision....

Anyway, i'm not sure if that even made sense, but I felt like writing tonight...have a fantastic Monday night!
